Directions

From New York / New Haven
Take I-95 North to Exit 62. Take a left off of the ramp, take your first right onto Duck Hole Road, then take your first left onto a small bridge. Take a left at the bridge and follow River Road for approximately 2 miles and the entrance will be on the left. (There will be blue camping signs at the exit.)

From New London / Rhode Island
Take I-95 South to Exit 62, take a right off of the exit ramp, take your first right onto Duck Hole Road, then take your first left onto a small bridge. Take a left at the bridge and follow River Road for approximately 2 miles and the entrance will be on the left. (There will be blue camping signs at the exit.)

From Hartford / Springfield
Take I-91 South to Route 9 Middletown, take Exit 9 off of Route 9, take a right onto Route 81 to Killingworth / Clinton. Follow for approximately 10 miles until traffic circle. At the traffic circle continue on Route 81 and take your second right onto Greenhill Road. Take your fourth left onto River Road for approximately 2.5 miles. The entrance to the campground will be on the right.

Kayaking the Indian River Marina

The lovely tidal wetland setting of Indian River Marina is ideal for shallow-draft vessels and allows convenient access for sailing and fishing on Long Island Sound and paddling in the rivers running into Clinton Harbor. Rent a kayak, canoe, or stand-up paddleboard and launch directly into the Indian River, or you can arrange a drop-off to other nearby waters.

Chamard Vineyard Logo

Nestled in the shoreline town of Clinton, Connecticut Chamard Vineyards strives to be your next food and wine destination. The vineyard, established in 1983, grows 20 acres of grapes on property and is made into the award-winning Estate Reserve wines. These wines and others exclusively made by the winery highlight the tastings in the tasting room. The farm gardens provide bountiful fruit, vegetable, and herb harvests used in the on-site bistro.


Gillette Castle

Gillette Castle State Park looks like a medieval fortress, but a step inside the stone castle reveals the built-in couches, table trackway, and woodcarvings that all point to the creative genius that was William Gillette.


Essex Steam Train

The Valley Railroad Company – operating the Essex Steam Train & Riverboat – has been serving the lower Connecticut River Valley since 1971. Their mission is to keep alive the rich mechanical, industrial, and transportation heritage of Connecticut through the continual operation of vintage steam and ­diesel locomotives and passenger coaches. The best-known excursion, the iconic Steam Train & Riverboat ride, operates from May through October, with daily operation during the summer months.

Dunes at Hammonasset State park

A visit to Hammonasset Beach State Park is more than just another day at the beach. Connecticut’s largest shoreline park offers over 2 miles of beach to enjoy swimming, strolling along the boardwalk, or just relaxing in the sun and surf.


Clams at Clam Castle, Connecticut

Clam Castle is a local favorite offering their world famous fresh seafood. A shoreline landmark that has been in Madison, CT for about 60 years, their menu offers a “clam shack menu” that features fish and chips as well as more traditional summer foods, including hamburgers and hot dogs. While traditionally a seasonal eatery, year-round options are being explored which will feature a breakfast and lunch menu in the fall and winter months.


Chatfield State Park

Visiting Chatfield Hollow State Park allows visitors to hike the trails in search of Indian caves, explore the jagged rocky ledges and recesses, relax by the cooling waters, or picnic in the soft pine woods.
